What the cost of attrition includes

Replacing someone costs far more than the recruiter's fee. The replacement multiple in the calculator covers all of these.

Hiring

Job ads, agency or referral fees, interview time from managers and the team, and background checks.

Vacancy and ramp-up

Lost output while the role is empty, plus the months a new hire needs to reach full productivity.

Knowledge and morale

Client relationships, undocumented know-how, and the extra load and exit risk for the people who stay.

Frequently asked questions

How is the cost of employee turnover calculated?

Number of exits a year × replacement cost per exit. Replacement cost is expressed as a multiple of annual CTC and covers recruiting, onboarding, lost productivity and the knowledge that leaves with the person.

What replacement cost multiple should I use?

Published estimates range from about 0.5× annual salary for junior roles to 2× or more for senior and specialist roles. Use 0.5× for a conservative estimate and a higher multiple for leadership or niche skills.

Does the calculator store my numbers?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to Kynoa.
